1. Policy Statement:

  • Cut Above Tree Services is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, clients, and the public during all tree surgery operations. We recognize that a safe working environment is essential for the success of our business.

2. Legal Compliance:

  • We commit to complying with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards applicable to our tree surgery operations.

3. Responsibilities:

  • Everyone within Cut Above Tree Services, from management to field personnel, shares the responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Management is responsible for providing adequate resources, training, and supervision to ensure the health and safety of all employees.

4. Risk Assessment:

  • We will conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with tree surgery activities.

  • Control measures will be implemented to minimize or eliminate identified risks.

​

5. Training and Competency:

  • All employees will receive appropriate training to perform their duties safely.

  • We will ensure that employees are competent in tree identification, climbing, equipment use, and emergency response procedures.

​

6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • All employees are required to use and maintain the provided PPE, including helmets, eye protection, gloves, and chainsaw-resistant clothing.

  • Management will ensure that PPE is appropriate for the task and in good condition.

​

7. Equipment Safety:

  • All tools and equipment will be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure safe operation.

  • Proper procedures for the use and storage of equipment will be communicated and enforced.

​

8. Working at Heights:

  • Adequate measures will be in place to prevent falls, including the use of safety harnesses and secure climbing equipment.

  • Employees will be trained in safe climbing and working at heights.

​

9. Emergency Procedures:

  • Emergency evacuation routes and procedures will be established and communicated to all employees.

  • First aid kits will be readily available on-site, and employees will be trained in Emergency First Aid for Forestry. 

​

10. Communication:

  • Clear communication channels will be established, including pre-task briefings, radios, or other reliable communication devices.

  • Employees are encouraged to report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

11. Record Keeping:

  • Records will be maintained for training certifications, equipment inspections, incident reports, and near misses.

  • Regular reviews of records will be conducted to identify trends and areas for improvement.

12. Continuous Improvement:

  • Cut Above Tree Services is committed to continuously reviewing and improving our health and safety practices.

  • Feedback from employees, clients, and external audits will be considered to enhance our safety procedures.

13. Review and Update:

  • This Health and Safety Policy will be reviewed and updated annually or as needed.

  • Changes in legislation, industry standards, or company operations will prompt immediate updates.
